Sunday, June 15th is Fathers’ Day. Now is the time to set aside your favorite photo of your Dad for our altar for this mid-June honoring of Fathers.
Bring your Dad to the Sunday Celebration if he’s around, and a photo of him if he isn’t. Bring your favorite photo of you with your dad. We’ll make room for them all!
Volunteering at the SF-Marin Food Bank is a fun opportunity to connect with other GGCSLers, meet other volunteers and give back to our greater Marin community. We have open slots on our June 10th shift from noon to 2 pm. Please contact Ellen Nicosia no later than June 3rd via text at 415.720.0225 or email at ellennicosia@gmail.com if you’d like to participate.
A couple of years ago, the Legacy Circle sponsored a Zoom workshop with Estate Planning attorney,
Kelly Kilkenny. Our Legacy Circle packets were also revised for those in our congregation who might
want to leave a donation to GGCSL in their estate plan.
This year the Leadership Council would like to offer several workshops and a book study on variouspreparations for retirement and end-of-life planning.
On Sunday, June 1 from 1–3 pm, we’ll be offering one of those workshops with Sharon Kobrin Evans
and Brenda Kobrin from Kobrin Financial Services. This workshop is offered free of charge.
Bring your questions about insurance, Medicare, investments, taxes, and financial planning for the third act of life. Please sign up this Sunday to let us know you intend to participate in the workshop so that we make sure to locate it with enough space for all those who want to come.
Location: the Sunrise Center, 645 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera
Financial Health In Retirement – FREE Presentation
THIS SUNDAY from 1–3 pm is our free presentation with Sharon Kobrin Evans and Brenda Kobrin from Kobrin Financial Services. Bring your questions about insurance, Medicare, investments, taxes, and financial planning for the third act of life. (Please note: This is not a sales presentation.)

One of the things GGCSL does on the Sunday nearest Memorial Day is a slideshow of dear ones we want to remember, especially those who have made their transition into the next adventure of Life in the past 12 months. That Sunday this year is May 25th.
Please bring photos of dear ones you want to remember for the altar that morning, and email any photos of GGCSLers you want remembered in advance so they can be included in the slides that morning. Email photos to Rev. Mary at RevMary@ggcsl.org, and make sure to include their names and how you remember them at GGCSL.
Volunteer at the Marin Food Bank ~ Sacred Service Matters
As we give service we’re contributing to the quality of life we share and experience. At the Food Bank, we’re literally contributing to Life itself by contributing our time for food security for our neighbors.
SF-Marin Food Bank: Contact Ellen Nicosia by April 1st by email, text, or voicemail to be included as a participant with GGCSL’s team, Tuesday, May 13th from 12:00–2:00 pm: ellennicosia@gmail.com or (415) 720-0225.
May 11th is Mother’s Day, and there will be a special Mother’s Day altar at GGCSL that morning. I encourage you to bring photos of your own Mom, of yourself with your kids if you are a mom, and
photos of daughters and/or daughters-in-law with their kids. Every kind of motherhood is essential for children to develop healthy, well-balanced lives, and we celebrate them all.
So let’s fill the altar with Moms, Grandmothers, Step-Moms, Foster Moms, Adoptive Moms, Pet’s Moms, and maybe even animal mamas,if we have those in our lives. Mothering is deeply loving, support and encouragement, tempered with guidance and accountability. It’s nurturing, advising, disciplining and giving affection to a young one, in cooperation with other adults in lesser or equal roles.
It’s a huge job, even with just one child, because there are no breaks, sick leave, vacation, comp time or salary. It’s 24/7 every day from their birth until your child leaves home (and sometimes even after they have). We all survived into adulthood, and possibly navigated into parenting from the giving side ourselves.
So let’s honor the role and the women who take it on. No one does it perfectly. A few are stellar, some are dreadful, but most do their best with pretty good results. Thanks Moms! We’ll never really know how you did it!
This year Easter is April 20th, and that is also the day we celebrate GGCSL’s 42nd Anniversary. We have sign up sheets ready now at the Activity Table for help with set-up, clean-up, and for potluck dishes you will bring. Please sign up Sunday to let us know what you will bring, and can do to help!
Begin decorating your Easter “bonnet” now for our contest. (Prizes will be available!) And think about one experience you’ve had at GGCSL that has made a big difference in your life. We’ll share these on Easter in a special way.
Jai Josefs and his band are booked to do live music for us in the Sunday/Anniversary Celebration that day, and Rev. Mary will offer one of her stellar messages. Don’t miss this wonderful community celebration!
