New Members Class

Time:
-
Recurrence:
Weekly from until

What is the Membership class? It’s a free three-week class for newcomers and current or returning members to learn about our spiritual community and the benefits of membership and living a deeper spiritual life. Newcomers sometimes find it challenging to meet people, make friends, and find ways to be involved in the life of a spiritual community. Through this class participants become connected to a small group of people, and get spiritual tools and practical information to become a part of the life of GGCSL. Upon class completion, participants may choose to become members (if they aren’t already) of Golden Gate Center for Spiritual Living.

Rev. Mary and Karen Frost, RScP, will be facilitating the Membership class on Zoom. The course is three Sundays: January 11, 18 & 25th, 2026 on Zoom from 12:30–2:30 pm. Each week we’ll provide you with important and useful information about GGCSL and how it works, as well as allotting a good amount of time for getting acquainted more deeply with others exploring membership.

Sign up at the Events Table on Sunday, or email administrator@ggcsl.org so Sonia can send your handouts to you and provide the online link for the Zoom meetings.

This course is offered free of charge.

The welcome reception for those choosing to become GGCSL members will be Friday, January 30, 2026 (location TBA), and Welcome Sunday will be February 1, 2026 at the 10 AM Celebration service.

Foundations Of The Science Of Mind

Beginning on Sep. 23th Rev. Mary will offer the 10-week introductory course on our spiritual philosophy, from 3-6 PM Tuesdays on Zoom through November 25. It includes one required Saturday workshop on Oct. 11th 9:30–1:00 PM. Registration begins on our website this week.

Foundations has no prerequisites, but is, itself, the prerequisite for all our Science of Mind courses. It’s packed with tools and practices for effectively addressing what feels “off course” in our lives. Personal change is the a result of a choice we make again and again. This course assists us to begin making that choice.

You will learn how to write effective affirmations, how to examine your beliefs and see what’s holding you back, how to craft a Spiritual Mind Treatment—our form of affirmative prayer—and more.

Early Bird pricing is available now at $260 through September 15th and will become $310 the week before class begins. There is one textbook for this course: The Science of Mind, by Ernest Holmes and a pre-class reading assignment.

PLEASE NOTE: There are many versions of the book out now. Which version of the text you get is very important. The 1938 edition that is used for this course can be purchased online at one of these links:

Summer Picnic

Time:
-

This year our summer picnic will be held on the patio at CMCC following the Sunday Celebration on Sunday, August 10th. We’re choosing to do it there, rather than out on the grounds as we have in the past, so that all of our congregation can come. Some of our folks are less steady on their feet than they once were, and this will make it possible for them to attend and be a part of the event. Everyone will already be parked, with their food onsite, and that will make the entire process easier.

We will be able to grill as usual, because CMCC has a grill onsite that we can use, and we’ve also asked to use their shade tent in case of hot weather. So think about what you want to bring, and prepare to enjoy a fun afternoon together right there! Sign up sheets will be available next Sunday for the potluck items you wish to bring to share.
