Happy St. Patrick’s Day (tomorrow). With all the conflict the Irish have experienced, they still make music, sing and dance in their communities. And they aren’t the only culture that does this! In Peru, while the westernized capital of Lima is more business-like in dress and behavior, in the towns and villages and smaller cities, people dress in bright colors and make art and music everywhere. They smile more. They dance more.
We, in the U.S. tend to think there’s little time for these things. Adults don’t dance and sing and make music and art together unless they come from a family or a community that always has. But dancing expresses feelings and helps process them. Movement helps clear our thinking and even out our energy. Do today and tomorrow, at least, let’s do a bit of singing and dancing of our prayers!
