The sky is completely available to us all, always, for free. In some native traditions we have Mother Earth and Father Sky, Grandfather Sun and Grandmother Moon. Recognizing them as benevolent family members reminds us to be respectful and responsive to them, and to treat them with kindness and care. Today, we consider how the sky itself blesses us all the time and we reconnect with it in appreciation. As the Buddhist Abbess, Pema Chödrön, teaches, “You are the sky. Everything else—it’s just the weather.”
