“To Go Fast, Go Alone; To Go Far, Go Together” (10/29/23)

Rev. Mary Murray Shelton

The title for today is often attributed as “an African proverb” although so far no one can find evidence that this is accurate. It sounds like a teaching with which most indigenous people in their original cultures might feel aligned. Human interactions and companionship make more and more difference in today’s world where, ironically, we can connect faster than ever before and with more people, but usually in a shallower way. People thrive better with social contact, not just online, but in person.

Today we’ll explore how we “travel” best in life and how to do it well, just as Dorothy and her friends, the scarecrow, tin man, and lion, found that it took all of them together to make their dreams a reality.

COULD YOU USE A BOOST DURING YOUR DAY? Our prayer practitioners take turns recording a prayer of help and inspiration each week. This is available to anyone who calls our Inspiration Line 24- hours a day: (415) 553-3804.
