In the midst of global and national conflicts and chaos, we can become closed-minded, fearful and bitter. But is that really the life we want to embrace? It’s possible, though not easy, to winnow down the amount of media we consume that feeds the angry, fearful side of ourselves. And, as one advocate said, “Action is the antidote to hopelessness.”

So our task is twofold. Addressing what is in front of us, taking whatever action we can that supports good options, and spending less time being programmed by the opinions of others. As people of faith, we have a responsibility to make conscious choices that support healthy living, thinking, and outcomes, beginning with ourselves.

Remember the little book, Random Acts of Kindness? Now is the time to pull it out and consider where we can spread kindness and compassion. That’s part of the action that leads to hope and transformation.
