No matter what the challenges of our personal lives may be, God is more than the appearances of negativity and struggle. If our lives are filled with joy, beauty, and ease, God is more than these, as well.
However amazingly good or terribly difficult our circumstances, God is more than that. We may think prayer is a weak response to a crisis—a cop out. After all, we’ve heard “in our thoughts and prayers” as a substitute for effective action many times.
Prayer is power. We have to use it will deep intention and faith to let it do its most effective work, though. It isn’t easy to maintain our faith, or even to engage it, when we’ve chosen to immerse ourselves in bad news. What if we spent as much time in meditation and prayer as we do reading and listening to negative news. Might we then have as much faith in prayer as we do in appearances? Let’s consider that question today.
