Embracing the Sacred Turning of the Year (12/19/21)

Rev. Mary Murray Shelton

As the fourth Sunday of Advent our theme for the day is Love. The turning of the season and of the year is upon us now, too. The Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, is Tuesday, and year end approaches. What does this transition bring forth in us?

We’re–admittedly–not as tuned in to the seasons as our ancestors were, but there’s still something about coming to the longest night and shortest day of the year that affects us. We, too, are moved toward turning and deepening our own awareness of the Sacred Mystery. Let’s turn toward that together and allow ourselves to welcome the deepening within.
