Avoid Editing Too Soon (09/12/21)

Rev. Mary Murray Shelton

Too many people begin a creative process trying to edit as they go. This is true of the life we want to grow toward living as well. I’m guessing we do this early editing to try and avoid mistakes, save time, and control criticism, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t actually do any of those.

Pruning too soon can weed out the seeds of great possibilities before they have the chance to develop. It’s a risk to put everything you have into it before clearing away what doesn’t work with the overall vision of the project. But it opens the door to countless possibilities for those who take the risk. Let’s consider this together today.
