The Path of Devotion—Islam (04/03/22)

Rev. Mary Murray Shelton

The mystical aspects of the great faiths of the world point to the same conclusions and beliefs.

Our faith, the Science of Mind, as taught and practiced in Centers for Spiritual Living, honors these mystical teachings from ancient wisdom, as well as incorporating contemporary knowledge and understanding. This series, beginning today with Islam, honors each path and will explore the similarities between our Science of Mind teachings and the faith honored on that particular Sunday.

My favorite meaning of the word Islam is surrender. A key aspect of Islam is devotion and surrender to Allah. It is similar in intention to the Hindu path of the Bhakti yogi. This is the path of love and devotion, in which the person of faith devotes themselves to the Divine Presence and abandons themselves to the Love of the Divine.
