For reasons we don’t usually understand, many, if not all of us, feel pulled in directions that feel irresistible. It may be scientific experimentation and discovery. It might be spiritual seeking or artistic creation. Or it might show up as addiction or craving for extreme sports or other risk-taking activities.
Family and friends may think we’ve become obsessed, or they may join us in our devotion. There is a “calling” that seems to compel us to move toward something without a clear sense of what that “something” is.
As we go deeper into our passions, we never completely satisfy what it is we’re aiming toward. This may be frustrating, disappointing or it might deepen our desire. Ultimately, we discover it’s been leading us into and then through what we thought would be the solution. We find there’s more on the other side of the call. Something wants to be known by us. What is that something beckoning us?
