Let the Beauty We Love Be What We Do (09/25/22)

Rev. Mary Murray Shelton

We have a lot of daily tasks in our lives that we usually don’t put in the pleasure, bliss or beauty categories. It may be that our attention and appreciation aren’t oriented so that we can experience this in every day activities, since they’re so familiar. Or, it may be that it never occurred to us that we could serve what we love and have a happy, safe, secure life.

What did the Sufi mystic, Jelaluddin Rumi, really mean by this sentence, Let the beauty we love be what we do? How can we “do” beauty? Let’s see if we can unpack this suggestion in today’s Sunday Celebration.
